Busselton’s Black Dog Ride organisers were blown away by the success of Sunday’s event.
The 2018 ride attracted 300 riders and 83 pillions from throughout the region, with some participants travelling from as far as Geraldton to participate.
The ride departed from the Black Dog Ride’s national headquarters at Busselton Toyota and travelled to Collie via Nannup.
Busselton Black Dog Ride coordinator Steve Ingram said there had been an overwhelming response to this year’s event in regards to participation and donations.
“We were flooded with registrations on the day,” he said.
“The amount of people involved was closest to our biggest – the car park was full and we had to overflow on to the street.
“It is also always special to start the ride from our headquarters and where the Black Dog Ride began.”
The amount raised from the ride is still being tallied.
The funds go to Black Dog Ride to support the National Suicide Prevention Strategy and a contribution will also be made to Lamp Inc South West.
Busselton Lions Club presented a $1000 cheque on the day and an auction was also held.
Mr Ingram praised the business community of Busselton for getting behind the cause.
“It has just been unbelievable,” he said.
“Particularly the support from Busselton Toyota not just on the day but throughout the years is just incredible.
“They provide our office space free of charge all year as well as the property on the day.”
