Dunsborough’s Xscape at the Cape Fun Park will host a free family ‘eggs-travanganza’ this weekend when it holds its first ever Mega Easter Egg Hunt.
The colossal chocolate search is the whacky idea of Willy Wonka-esque proprietor Douglas Campbell.
Mr Campbell has a long history in the family fun entertainment industry.
He founded The Great Escape at Hillarys Boat Harbour and is credited with introducing waterslides to Australia 35 years ago.
Mr Campbell said the Easter Bunny’s helpers would be visiting the park to hide the 2000 eggs for the weekend.
Each of the hidden eggs will be numbered and a prize will correspond to that number.
Participants can find up to five eggs and every egg will be a winner.
More than $3000 in prizes are up for grabs.
Prizes range from a sweet milk chocolate rabbit to birthday party vouchers, laser tag vouchers and admission tickets.
Mr Campbell said he wanted to host the event to rejuvenate family entertainment in the region.
“What better occasion than Easter to get the family together and for parents to have as much fun as the children,” he said.
“This is a family fun park, we love making people happy and feel there is nothing more noble you can do than that.”
Mr Campbell said he hoped to welcome a huge turn out to the park, so he didn’t have to eat all the sweet treats himself.
“There is plenty of room and elasticity in my sugar levels if need be,” he said.
“I am quite taut and terrific – however, I don’t think there will be any eggs or bunnies left over.
“It will be challenging as we have made it for all age groups but I believe all the prizes will be found.”
Registrations will be held from 9.30am to 10am on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the Caves Road premises.
