Busselton Tennis Club played their 2018 Busselton Toyota Club Championship competition over three consecutive March weekends 11, 18 and 25, with the two top men’s seeds on court in the finals for not the first time.
Both players had previously won this title, which was reflected in the quality of the two-set shot making battle. Number one seed and club tennis coach Josh Grace had the edge over number two seed Clifford Hoult on this occasion and went on to win 6/1, 6/4. Congratulations go to Josh for winning his second club Men’s Singles title and being the Men’s Singles Champion for 2018.
For the second consecutive year in the Women’s Singles Championship event, Louise Braddock took out the title as the 2018 winner with a 6/2, 6/4 win from Busselton Tennis Club junior member Hannah Bowden.
Louise then teamed up with Tracy Adams to convincingly win the Women’s Doubles 6/1, 6/3 from Alison Kirk and Erica Franklin.
Another fabulous effort in the Women’s Singles was from junior member Hannah Nichols who showed off her tennis potential by reaching the final rounds of the competition at the tender age of only 13.
In the Men’s Doubles final Cliff Hoult teamed up with Paul Collins to craft an entertaining win 6/4, 2/6, 6/4 from Richard Kim and Ben Priest to become the Men’s Doubles Champions.
And in the Mixed Doubles Deanne Smith and Cliff Hoult prevailed over Hannah Nichols and Josh Grace 6/2, 6/2 in a finals match full of brilliant serving from Josh, court coverage by play reading by Cliff, steady play by Deanne and with Hannah’s greatly improved game.
