A Go Fund Me page has been launched to raise $20,000 for The Old Butter Factory Museum after parts of the second floor was destroyed by fire last month.
On March 27, the main gallery and all contents, fittings and cabinetry were lost and the remaining exhibit rooms were received heavy smoke and water damage.
The page was launched by volunteers from The Busselton Historical Society, who are dedicated to preserving and restoring Busselton’s history, which is housed in The Old Butter Factory.
“The factory is an iconic 100-year-old building displaying a large quantity of the museum’s historical memorabilia, which holds many special memories for a lot of people in our community and the museum is a very popular attraction for visitors to our city,” the page reads.
“We want to restore this part of the beautiful museum and our plan is to refit the damaged areas of the museum and salvage, restore and replace as many artefacts as possible.”
The page has currently raised more than $1500.
