Busselton’s café with company, The Good Egg, is in the running to be named the Countrywide Café of the Year.
The Albert Street business, which opened in August, was named as one of the top five finalists in Australia after just a week of voting.
Foreshore favourite, The Goose, is also among the WA nominees in the competition.
The Good Egg co-owner Amy Ovans said they simply entered the competition to see how the public rated their offering.
“We are beyond overwhelmed by the response,” she said.
“We are amazed at the support.
“All the team have put in the hard yards to help create what we have here, so it is wonderful.”
Ms Ovans said the team had high hopes and felt they could win the competition after the top five ranking.
“I think our customer services goes above and beyond,” she said.
“We are different from other cafés out there, we have our upstairs office hub, we do workshops and cooking classes, and we donate 5 per cent of our profit to brain cancer research.”
It is this desire to be different and its ‘café with company ideology’ that has lead to the business hosting its first Speed Dating event.
Ms Ovans said they would host the event in May and were currently seeking more male participants.
“People don’t just go out and mingle anymore,” she said.
“We want to take it back to the old-fashioned ways and help people meet face-to-face.”
