Wear red and join a free walking event in Busselton during Heart Week to enjoy the benefits of physical activity.
The Heart Week walk in Busselton will take place on Thursday, May 3 from 9.30am at Mitchell Park, Queen Street.
Heart Foundation South West project officer Leith Mete said while most people knew that physical activity was good for them, the majority were unsure about specific benefits.
“Physical activity is much better for you than you think,” she said.
“Exercising every day can reduce your risk of heart disease by 35 per cent, reduce your blood pressure, help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce your blood cholesterol, prevent and manage diabetes, prevent depression and keep cognitive decline and Alzheimers at bay.”
The Heart Foundation has partnered with South West Women’s Health Information Centre and Community Home Care for the event.
Walkers can register online by May 1 or on the day from 8.30am.
