Wilyabrup’s Cullen Wines has been acknowledged at an international level after it was named as one of the nine most beautiful biodynamic wineries in the world by Architectural Digest.
Cullen Wines managing director Vanya Cullen said it was incredible to receive recognition from an acclaimed publication.
“We were contacted by our American importer who told us and they were incredibly excited,” she said.
“It is a really nice acknowledgment of all the work we put into the tourism facility and experience at Cullen.
“The other wineries included are all very prestigious so it is great to be inline with the likes of those.”
The winery has been biodynamic since 2004, after transitioning from conventional to organic.
Biodynamic viticulture is a philosophy combining the maintenance of sustainable soil fertility and the recognition of the link between plant growth and the rhythms of the cosmos.
Guests can participate in the biodynamic winemaking process through the Spiral Garden, which offers a self-guided tour informing them on the philosophy.
Ms Cullen said being biodynamic was a rewarding experience.
“It is a lot of hard work but becoming biodynamic just felt like the right thing to do,” she said.
“Being sustainable has always been part of our philosophy.”
