Busselton Hospice Care Inc manager Judy Waterman said more than 400 volunteers from the community have provided end of life and bereavement support to people and families for over 15 years.
“We are in a new phase and adding more to our existing volunteer programs to support our palliative care community,” she said.
“Currently, we offer a peer support bereavement service and a complementary therapy program for individuals and their care givers and are planning for a home volunteer visiting and carer support program.”
One-hundred volunteers provide these services to families in the hospice unit at the Busselton Health Campus, the bereavement and complementary therapy programs are aslo run at the organisation’s Geographe Bay Centre on Craig Street.
“The Geographe Bay Centre is our home and where we manage our programs,” Ms Waterman said.
