The team at Specsavers Busselton is getting active this month to help Guide Dogs WA provide eyes for the community.
For more than 60 years, thousands of Western Australian residents who are blind or vision impaired have received assistance from Guide Dogs WA.
Now, Specsavers Busselton, is on a mission to raise the $35,000 it takes to raise and train a Guide Dog for a West Australian in need.
The team is participating in the HBF Run for a Reason event on May 27 and from now until then, will participate in several fundraising activities including a ‘Super Saturday’ on Saturday, May 19 where $5 from every pair of glasses sold will go to the cause.
Guide Dogs WA community fundraising coordinator Lauren Shepherd said they were very grateful to the team and the generous support of their customers.
“Their donations will allow us to make a real and meaningful difference to the lives of people who require a Guide Dog to go about everyday life without difficult,” she said.
Specsavers Busselton store co-owner Emma Dowding said they were thrilled to give their customers the opportunity to help them give back to Guide Dogs WA through the HBF Run for a Reason.
“The work Guide Dogs WA does is indispensable for people living with blindness or vision impairment,” she said.
“We will be putting all of our efforts in, both as we fundraise in the lead up, and as we run on the day.”
Guide Dogs WA has a long and exemplary history in training and placing Guide Dogs and supporting people with vision loss in WA and has enhanced quality of life through a culture of innovation, incredible dogs and qualified trainers.
