South West off-road motorcyclists are gearing up to tackle the annual Capel 200 Trail Bike Rally on June 30.
The event, which will celebrate its 41st anniversary, is organised by the Ironstone Adventure Riding Club and supported by partners Healthway, Yamaha and the Shire of Capel.
The rally provides a well organised, safe and non-competitive event where riders of all levels and experience can enjoy the many existing trails in the Capel-Jarrahwood area without the pressure of competition.
The rally is a long-standing event on the local calendar and could not happen without the support of local community organisations, with part proceeds from the event donated to a local community organisation.
Event organiser Rob Harvey says the event will be a great opportunity for riders to enjoy the beautiful Capel-Jarrahwood area at a safe and relaxed event.
Sanctioned by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and local shires, the club puts a lot of effort in to designing a safe, sustainable course, using minor tracks and trails that avoid major roads and interfaces with public traffic.
The course is also alternated annually to avoid over-use.
The event starts and finishes at the Ironstone property just west of Ironstone Falls on the Capel-Donnybrook Road.
Registrations open on the day at 7am and a rider’s briefing will take place at 8.30am. Riders can also register online at iarc.com.au/.
The event will be opened by Minister for Seniors and Ageing; Volunteering; Sport and Recreation Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray.
