A Dunsborough family’s fundraiser for the Motor Neurone Disease Association of WA has made more than $25,000.
The event, Carol’s MND Fundraiser, was organised by Danielle Marsden, Anita DeMarchi and Matthew Bogaers. Their mum, Carol Bogaers, was diagnosed with the terminal neurodegnerative disease in September.
Close to 200 people attended the event at Solitaire Homestead on June 16, including many of Carol’s former colleagues from her 35 years with the Disability Services Commission.
The fundraising figure is expected to increase as donations are still trickling in and an online raffle of the remaining auction items is set to be held.
Carol said the community response to the event was amazing.
“We can’t believe it and have been blown away by the generosity from everyone involved,” she said.
The money raised will go towards research and finding a cure for the devastating illness.
