Two WA authors will be visiting the South West next week to speak about their new books, writing romance and why there may be more than a love story that meets the eye at a series of events.
Love Between the Pages author event series will see Sasha Wasley and Anthea Hodgson visit the Bull and Bush Tavern and Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School on June 20 and Busselton Library and Capel Library on June 21.
“We are coming on tour, which we’re both really excited about because we love it down there,” Ms Wasley said.
“The tour itself is to talk about stories that feature love as a major theme so that’s not necessarily romance but it is generally books about relationships and life.
“People can expect interesting conversation, a bit of fun, a bit of laughter, a little present and the chance to win a book pack.”
Ms Wasley recently released her latest novel True Blue as the second book in a three part series based on the Paterson sisters who live in the Kimberley.
“The problem is the theme of love tends to get relegated as a women’s issue, if we want to read about love we have to go over to the women’s section in the bookshop,” she said.
“However I think love cuts through a whole range of genres, they just don’t really own it – you’ve got crime, thrillers, mystery – all of those tend to have some kind of romance, relationship or love happening in them.
“Love and relationships are really important in our lives but some people tend to think of them as something not worth reading about.”
Ms Wasley encouraged booklovers and aspiring writers to come along to the Love between the pages events.
“We’re going to be talking about all things books,” she said.
“Anyone who loves books it will be a great environment for them to come along.”
“People who are interested in writing or aspiring writers will also get a lot out of it because we will have the opportunity for lots of questions and answers.”
Ms Hodgson released her second novel Cowgirl in March – a multigenerational saga exploring fractured families, growing up in the Wheatbelt and will bring her experience of being a writer to the events.
