Former AFL star and Eagles player John Annear and umpiring great Dean Margetts joined Busselton’s Auskick training session on Friday.
Annear began his football career playing for Claremont in the West Australian Football League before he was recruited to Collingwood then moved on to Richmond in the Victorian Football League.
He returned to WA to play in the first ever team of the West Coast Eagles which joined the then Victorian Football League competition in 1987.
Margetts, who lives in Busselton, recently celebrated his 300th match umpiring AFL games, at the first game to be played at Optus Stadium in Perth this year.
For the junior footballers in Busselton it was a great treat to have two AFL greats go along to their training session and pass on some valuable knowledge to the budding stars.
Auskick is a weekly nationwide program which gives girls and boys aged from five to twelve years old the chance to build football skills playing in a safe and fun environment.
