Busselton apprentice Brayden Mitchell has returned from a sailing experience on board the STS Leeuwin II.
The 20-year-old was sponsored by Group Training South West to participate in the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure program.
Brayden participated in all on board activities, including night watch and climbing the 33 metre main mast.
He was selected by his peers to be captain of the replacement crew for the final sail day.
Brayden said he had grown as a person from the experience.
“This sponsorship was important to me as I have never really been a people person,” he said.
“Being thrown on a ship with 40 strangers for a week left me with no choice but to start conversations and step out of my comfort zone.”
