Gracetown’s Bronte Macauley is living the dream on the Women’s World Surfing Tour and is currently competing in South Africa at the Jeffreys Bay Pro.
The 24-year-old Western Australian is still relatively new to the tour but is gaining more confidence in the perfect waves on tour and is used to the powerful surf after growing up in the South West.
The goofy foot surfer is on the backhand attack at the legendary J-Bay and has already made the third round and she is sitting in 15th place on the rankings.
Her father and coach Dave is a former world number two on the world tour and is passing on his full knowledge.
The women’s tour consists of 10 events through the year and will be part of the Kelly Slater Surf Ranch contest, before finishing 2018 in Hawaii.

Whalebone Classic
Dunsborough locals had a few solid results at this year’s Whalebone Classic at Cottesloe last weekend with super clean conditions and fun waves all event.
Robin Somogyvari made two finals placing second in the Over 40 Men’s division and a fourth place in the Open Men’s, while Paul Burke joined him in the Over 40’s final with a third place overall.
Peter Dunn rounded out the top four in the Over 50’s Logger division.
Forecast:
Thursday will have some strong north-westerly winds, so possibly a bit of wind swell in the bay.
A large 4.5-metre swell hits on Friday with some south-westerly winds.
The weekend looks average with onshore west-south-westerly winds and a three-metre swell.
