Busselton Jetty will benefit from the Building Better Regions Fund after it received $320,000 to establish a marine discovery centre, multi-functional area and a safe swimming area.
Forrest MP Nola Marino said it was a fantastic outcome for the South West which would have flow on benefits across the community.
“Adding infrastructure for events, increasing levels of amenity and creating new reinvigorated activities for the Busselton and South West community, ensuring our region would continue to thrive and prosper,” she said.
Busselton Jetty Inc chairperson Jenny Sheehan said they were thrilled and grateful to receive the grant to establish much needed facilities at the end of the jetty.
“We have listened to feedback from locals and visitors over many years and now have the funding to advance our project to provide a world class tourism and recreational facility,” she said.
Ms Sheehan said they could add seating, shade, a kiosk, commercial kitchen, whale interpretation centre, more toilets and a staff area.
