It was a huge weekend for the South West Soccer Association with a series of tight cup matches hosted by Dunsborough Towner’s Football Club.
The day kicked off with the Mens Masters Division.
The Dalyellup Park Rangers took on Football Margaret River in the Mike Coley Cup.
The fierce rivals took the match down to the wire, but it was Dalyellup that prevailed with a 2 to 1 win.
Ranger Steve Dearie was named best on ground.
Next up it was Busselton City going head to head with Hay Park.
Hay Park had a tough task ahead from the get go, entering the match with 10 players.
Busselton were simply too strong and overpowered the northern visitors.
Busselton City finished with five goals, keeping Hay Park to nil.
Ariana Dawson and Chelsea Braam scored two each, while Dot Okumu had one to her name.
Siobhan Longmore was awarded best on ground.
The final match for the day was a fiery contest between Dalyellup Park Rangers and home-side Dunsborough Towner’s Football Club.
At the final siren, it was two-all and the game went to a penalty shootout.
The tense stand-off was ended when Dunsborough secure five penalties to Dalyellup’s four.
Towner Phil Turtle was named man of the match.
In the Men’s State League – Division One, South West Phoenix FC notched up a 2-1 victory over Joondalup FC at WML Stadium.
The team takes on Fremantle City this Saturday.
