Three founding members of Dunsborough Coast and Land Care have come together to select some special plants to go into Seymour Park.
The planting marks the group’s 20th anniversary year.
In 1998, Ron Glencross, Bill Franssen and Chris Hosking were pictured in the Mail planting trees in celebration of the group’s formation.
Mr Glencross explained the significance of the plants they had selected for Seymour Park.
“We will be planting a Swamp Paperbark, which is the seedling of the original ‘Seymour Cauliflower Tree’ which was knocked down,” he said.
“The other is a rare gum from Meelup Park, the Eucalyptus virginea, which is only found in two places and is the parent hybrid of the Meelup Mallee.
“In addition, we are planting four Meelup Claw Flowers which are iconic and once part of the city emblem.”
Dunsborough Coast and Land Care is a not-for-profit volunteer group.
