Members of the Busselton RSL gathered on Friday, July 27, to honour Korean War Veterans Armistice Day.
Busselton’s Kevin Riseley served in the first, second and third battalion of the Royal Australian Artillery during the conflict.
Busselton RSL secretary Glenn Woodward said they believed Mr Riseley was the only remaining Korean War veteran in Busselton, and possibly the South West.
Mr Woodward said it was important veterans honoured fellow veterans and the conflicts they were involved in.
“No war is a good war and it is important we support our older veterans like Kevin, just as we hope we will be supported by younger veterans in coming years,” he said.
“It is all about paying respect to those who served.”
Mr Riseley said it meant a lot that the city’s other veterans had joined him for the service.
“It is good the guys have come out but the main objective is that it is not about us,” he said.
“339 didn’t come home, that is who the day is about.”
