Making headlines, a public brawl erupted between Busselton shire councillors over a full-page advertisement placed in a local newspaper by shire president Wes Hartley attacking Vasse MLA Troy Buswell. It sparked a call for Cr Hartley’s resignation by another councillor. Cr Hartley placed the advertisement in response to criticism by Mr Buswell over plans for a new $41 million civic precinct.
In sport, the Busselton Magpies league team were beaten by five goals at Sir Stewart Bovell Park, going down under lights to the Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault Lions.
