Local grommets will be competing for their schools this week at the WA Regional School Surfing Titles in Margaret River.
The event will run this Thursday at the river mouth depending on conditions with the schools top riders making a charge for the finals series later this month on August 31.
The five local schools will be Busselton Senior High, Cape Naturaliste College, Georgina Malloy, Mackillop and Margaret River High.
It’s a great tradition and opportunity for the local kids to fly the flag for their respective schools and compete against other rivals in the South West before going onto compete with WA’s best schools.
FORECAST: the school contest day on Thursday will have moderate W winds and a 2.2 metre swell so there should be a few contestable waves in Margaret River.
Friday looks good with a new 3.5m swell and easing SW winds. Saturday brings some possible offshore NE winds before they tend to the north and a dropping 2m swell. Sunday looks similar with a northerly trend and smaller swell.
HOTSPOT: Bears on the weekend.
