The Business Council of Australia and Sky news will host the next Strong Australia community forum in Busselton, one of the nation’s fastest growing cities.
The forum will take place on Thursday, August 23 which includes a community lunch from 12 to 2pm and a live TV discussion program broadcast from 6 to 7pm – both hosted by Sky News political editor David Speers.
The lunchtime forum will feature the Business Council of Australia chief executive officer Jennifer Westacott , Rio Tinto managing director of Australia Joanne Farrell, Programmed managing director Chris Sutherland, City of Busselton mayor Grant Henley and CinefestOZ and Busselton Water chair Helen Shervington.
Ms Westacott said they would be in Busselton to have a conversation about how and why business is the lifeblood of our communities, and when business thrives, the community and Australia thrives.
“Businesses – big and small – are the mainstay of communities by providing jobs, opportunities, investments, and responding to change,” she said.
“The objective of the Strong Australia series is to travel outside the city centres of Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and talk to Australians about the issues that matter most to them.
“Business employs over 10 million people in Australia – if we want to keep that job creation happening, we need to create the right opportunities for them, especially in our regions.”
The Busselton forum, the first in WA, in a series of forums taking place across the country will bring together the expertise of some of the area’s largest employers, business leaders, small business owners and community leaders that help make Australia tick.
The Strong Australia forum is being held at the Youth and Community Activities Building. For tickets and further information visit: strongaustralia.com.au.
