City of Busselton councillors will be asked to vote on whether they support changing retail trading hours across the district so each town site will be the same.
Currently, Dunsborough, Busselton and Vasse all have different retail trading hours and city officers have proposed unifying trading hours Monday to Sunday from 8.00am to 9.00pm including all public holidays. These changes would mean retailers could open on Good Friday, Anzac Day and Christmas Day.
In their report, city officers stated they undertook extensive consulation with 131 people completing a survey about the changes.
During the consultation period 95 per cent of respondents did not own a retail business within the city district and 70 per cent supported the proposed changes to retail trading hours in the City of Busselton;
If the changes are supported by council, city officers will need to make an application to the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety for approval.
