Seventeen year-old mountain bike rider, Jayden Fraser has continued his powerhouse results, with an unexpected State Champion podium winning deviation from his normal Enduro MTB events.
Last Friday, he took to the Cross Country track at the State School’s Competition in Perth, taking home second place in the State School’s MTB Championships for the Cornerstone Christian College team.
The cross country style is more like a marathon compared to Jayden’s usual middle distance competition.
To back up that great result, he decided to ‘have a go’ at Downhill racing on the weekend at the State Championships in Wellington Mills.
Downhill is more like a short sprint race, and very different again.
At his first ever Downhill race, on the same bike he has used for all his other events, he was crowned State Champion in the Under 19s.
A totally unexpected outcome, but one that showcases his general strengths across many facets of mountain biking.
Jayden has been supported by the team at Humble Bicycle Co in Vasse and rides his very versatile Trek Fuel EX bike – which is proving to be extremely capable.
At the Downhill State Championships event on the weekend, we are aware of three other Busselton locals who hit the podium.
Bryce Commins took home third place in the Under 17’s, and Rex Dubois holds a bronze medal in Expert Men.
