Spring has sprung, the AFL grand final is here and the smell of freshly mowed grass is lingering in the air, this can only mean one thing, cricket is just around the corner.
Whatever standard, ability, commitment level and cricket goals you have, your community corporate cricket competition has something to scratch your cricketing itch.
A community and family orientated competition, Busselton T20 cricket is the quickest growing competition in the South West.
Team nominations are still open and we have two positions available. With all gear supplied, new uniforms, scorer and umpire, all you have to do is find 14 mates, male and female over 14 years old and give us your team name.
No previous experience is needed as revised rules automatically evens the competition out and the motto is, runs for Fun, this is not a competition for the serious cricketer.
With last season’s premiers the Bin Chooks going around again, the target will be on their back.
Like their namesake, the Chooks will be scavenging for every run and wicket and will just keep going to go back to back this year. Led by Danny Brook, he has dug up last years premiership formula after six months underground and will be keen to bring the same team together this season.
The Lemons are bitter after their grand final defeat last season and will be keen to go one better this year. The rumour mill is out in full force with the word on the street, crowd favourite Ben Horrocks will lead the teams KPI’s in their pre-season. He has been leading the 5 and 10 kilometre time trials while his work in the gymnasium has gone to another level; out-benching team mates Dornan and Gerrans. Horrocks will be one to watch this season, as will the Lemons.
Busselton T20 would also like to welcome Bunbury and Busselton Towing on board as our principle partner, the Busselton Dunsborough Mail as our media partner and Trade Hire Busselton as one of our corporate partners.
Our first community day will be on Friday, October 19 at the Vasse Sporting Complex. All in aid of the Vasse Primary School P&C, a gold coin donation for each of bouncy castles, face painting, sausage sizzle, raffles, Perth Scorchers bus; this will be a cheap afternoon out. Bring a picnic down, your loudest voice and cheer on your local competition.
If there are any businesses that would like to donate to the Vasse Primary School P&C but are unsure of an entertaining way to do it; we are looking for donations of $25 or $50 per six and four hit on the night. With the new boys Match Fixers taking on the Bin Chooks, this will be a fantastic afternoon’s cricket.
