Busselton Sebel Open 2018
The Sebel Resort Busselton played host to the annual Busselton Squash Club Open Tournament this past weekend, attracting 60 players from all over Western Australia.
In a two-day, two-night hit out the competition was fierce in both the men’s and women’s divisions alike.
The Women’s Open final comprised of Mirrabooka Squash Club rivals Linda Towell and Fiona Whooley, with Towell ultimately claiming victory in a gruelling four-set match retaining her undefeated streak for the weekend.
A Country Week rematch took place in the Men’s Open final between Bunbury’s Jamie Herring and Mandurah’s Dwayne Simons.
Herring’s stellar year was not to be derailed by Simons in a showcase match of the best the sport has to offer in regional WA.
Special mentions go out to Busselton players Phil Cox, Christine Champ, Paula Thompson and Ed Jennings for winning first and second places within thier respective divisions.
The Busselton Squash Club resumes pennants this coming Monday night as players look to tune their skills before the Annnual Club Championships this December.
