Yallingup’s Indian Ocean Longboard Club held it’s final club round and end of year presentation on Saturday at Caves House.
Nice weather and waves greeted competitors at Yallingup main break.
At the annual presentations club president Paul Burke was awarded the Open Champion trophy.
Runners-up were Adam Lane and Doug Curruthers.
“Long time member Bill Gibson was made a life member”
The Gill Warman Handicap Award was won by Margaret River’s Mick Coleman from Paul Burke and Amanda Curley.
Jacob McIver took out the junior crown while Amanda Curley won the women's division.
Andrew Bland and Ray Holden were joint winners of the club person award, a presenastion which is voted on by members.
For services to the club, long time member and former president Bill Gibson was awarded life membership.
Bill, a life member of the Margaret River Boardriders Club, was overjoyed to receive the award.
President Burke thanked committee members for their hard work during the year.
Also thanked were sponsors Richards Tyrepower, Holden Accountants, Dave Burton Legal, Funs Back Surf, Dunsborough Lakes Golf Club, Volte Wetsuits and Yahoo Surfboards for their support.
The club’s premiere event, the Yallingup Malibu Classic, is being held on the weekend Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2, at Yallingup main break.
Entries have filled up fast with only a few spots remaining.
