Light the Night will be held at the new Busselton Amphitheatre on Saturday to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation, to help more Australians beat blood cancer, improve survival rates and their quality of life.
The community are invited to bring a picnic blanket from 5pm and register their attendance at lightthenight.org.au to reserve a lantern for a donation of $20.
There will be lots of family entertainment at the event including music from the Broadbent Brothers and Emma Nisbet with food and refreshments available.
There will also be an ocean theme dress up competition, roaming entertainment with pirate storyteller Captain Boots, raffles, a mermaid photo booth, bouncy castle, face painting and more.
The lantern lighting ceremony starts at 7pm and will be followed by a jetty walk at 7.20pm.
It will be the fifth year Light the Night event organiser Dawn Blanchard has run the event raising more than $60,000 for the foundation in memory of her cousin Penny.
“My Uncle Dave also sadly passed away from blood cancer earlier this year, joining Penny in our thoughts and memories,” she said.
“With a rare form of blood cancer, I am proud to say that my Uncle Dave’s death was able to help others in assisting with medical research and advancement.
“This year, our families will be carrying gold lanterns to remember and celebrate the memories of Penny and Uncle Dave and the lives that they lived.”
