Busselton’s first water taxi service will take place this Sunday to help Geographe residents reach the city centre.
The Deck Bar and Restaurant has partnered with Naturaliste Charters for the free initiative, which is supported by the City of Busselton and Ironman WA.
As this Sunday’s popular Ironman event will close Layman Road, The Deck owner manager John Triplett said he wanted to come up with a proactive solution for Geographe residents and The Deck customers.
“A lot of our customers live out here and are somewhat restricted moving about the city,” he said.
“We also want to give spectators the opportunity to get here as it is a great location to watch the bike leg.”
The first boat will leave The Deck at 10.45am, arriving at Busselton Jetty at 11am. It will leave the jetty every hour on the hour until 5pm.
Mr Triplett said if there was good support for the venture it would continue in the future.
“We will see how it goes but we aren’t planning for this to be a one-off,” he said.
