Families have flocked to events during the Festival of Busselton’s first week.
Two of the most popular events were the Create A Scarecrow workshops and the Squid Clinics.
Week two of the Act-Belong-Commit Festival of Busselton is also jam packed full of free family friendly and fun activities.
Highlights for this weekend include the City of Busselton Youth Services’ annual Battle of the Bands heat on Friday, January 11, at the new Amphitheatre stage.
A sea of talent will rock the night away as they battle out for the prestigious Battle of the Band title.
Finalists from the evening move ahead to perform at the inaugural Eats n Beats family picnic at the Busselton Amphitheatre on Saturday, January 12, following the Float Parade in the afternoon.
The event will showcase the finalists, but will also include the Rio Tinto Silent Disco marquee, international food cuisines and other great family activities and entertainment.
A hearty favourite of the Festival is the Children’s Pirate Competition being held on Sunday, January 13, at the Sea Play at the Bay playground on the Foreshore.
The games promises a pirates chest full of swashbuckling fun for all the children participating, with a chest full of prizes to be awarded to best dressed pirates.
The weekend concludes with the inaugural ‘Foosball Fun’, the life size inflatable foosball game on display at the foreshore on Sunday, January 13.
The five a side soccer game is a replica of the table game which was invented in 1923 and mirrors a soccer field.
Festival of Busselton are running free and fun tournaments from 4pm to 8pm throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Festival of Busselton president Bernie Masters encouraged locals and visitors to get involved in the scores of free family fun on offer throughout January.
”There is an event for every age and they range from sport to theatre to art to entertainment and activities,” he said.
“The Festival of Busselton is an opportunity for us to showcase the region and to highlight why Busselton and the South West is a perfect location for families to live or holiday here.”
