The Busselton Runners Club’s SunSmart Half Marathon has sold out a month before the event on February 9.
Promotions co-ordinator Rose Williamson said all categories in the event of the half marathon, 10km run and 5km fun run sold out a fortnight ago.
Williamson said there has been significant interest in the event especially since celebrity runners were on board.
“In addition, sponsors had been absolutely fantastic by getting behind the event by encouraging staff to participate and advertising the event through their social media channels,” she said.
“The Busselton Runners Club have a very strong committee and volunteer network that has made the event what it is today; one of the best running events on the South West calendar”.
Limited tickets are now available to attend an evening at the Busselton Golf Club with special guest speaker Olympic Sprinter and Event Ambassador Melinda Gainsford-Taylor.
Gainsford-Taylor is flying over from the Eastern States to participate on the day and will be providing an inspirational speech at an evening dinner. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with Gainsford-Taylor afterwards.
Local Dunsborough athlete Jess Greene, who is participating in the 40-B4-40 project; which is competing in 40 sporting events until her 40th birthday later this year, will also be at the dinner, with the aim of lifting the profile of the Guillain Barre Syndrome Foundation of Australia.
Tickets to this special dinner evening are just $40 per person which includes an all you can eat buffet dinner. Licensed bar available.
