The next Disabled Surfers Association South West event will be held on a Sunday to allow those with Saturday commitments to attend.
For keen surfer, Erica Dunne, it is a major relief. She has been attending the events for six years but recently has been unable to make it due to work.
She said she was thrilled to be able to make the event.
“I really love it, the conditions are perfect,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to trying to stand up again, I’ll get there eventually.”
Ms Dunne is approaching 20 years in her work place and will soon qualify for long service leave. She hopes this might mean some more time for surfing, and joked she may even take a surf trip to Hawaii.
Disabled Surfers Association South West branch president Ant Pursell said they actively sought to create a Sunday event.
“We don’t want people to miss out on the fun but know it can be so hard with other commitments like sport, work and family so we figured we’d make a special Sunday event,” he said.
The event will be held on February 17 from 9am at Bunker Bay. Newcomers and volunteers are welcome.
