Making news 10 years ago, the Busselton shire president Wes Hartley was criticised for his proposal to amalgamate Busselton and Augusta-Margaret River shires.
The Busselton Chamber of Commerce announced it wanted Busselton to become a city. It was a major point in a draft discussion paper on the chamber’s vision for the future of Busselton.
In Sport, Vasse took just 10 overs to beat Yobs in one of the most one-sided games of the cricket season. Yobs batted first and were dismissed for 80, with David Ryan taking the outstanding figures of 6-16 for Vasse. In reply, Jon Taylor, Sam Shepherd and Brendan Cribb polished off the runs inside 10 overs for the loss of just one wicket.
