A leaking reticulation valve in Provence has stirred up residents who said water was being wasted by going straight down the gurgler.
Christa Rogers said she first reported the problem to the City of Busselton back in January and the reticulation still flooded part of a road on Joseph Drive and Sunflower Turn.
"We are constantly reminded to preserve water, we had the same issue a few years ago," she said.
"It makes me angry lots of water is going down the drain."
City of Busselton director of engineering and works services Oliver Darby said the irrigation team were aware of the leak and have been monitoring it.
Mr Darby said the source was bore water and it only leaked when the reticulation was on - it was not a constant leak.
"While it is a small leak repairing the problem involves turning off a section of irrigation that would impact on the surrounding landscape which the city was reluctant to do over the warmer months," he said.
"It would have made the area present poorly with recovery time taking significantly longer. With the weather changing now the task has been prioritised for the next fortnight."
Mr Darby said when prioritising works, the city's engineering and works crew considered all the factors and made a judgement call on the best timing of the job - weather, events, tourist influx were all major considerations.
"In this instance the cost associated with the bore water leak (which has for the most part seeped back into the ground) was less than the cost of disruption to the community and damage to the landscaped area had the job been undertaken in summer when the leak was first detected."
