A Busselton based bed and breakfast has been awarded the most affordable in WA by a British company Travel and Hospitality Awards.
Busselton Marina Bed and Breakfast owners Daphne and Brian Maynard said they were pleasantly surprised to find out they had been nominated for an award.
Ms Maynard said the company presented their awards annually by looking at online booking platforms and reviewing travellers' comments about their experience.
The awards website stated they recognised hotels, tour companies, travel buyers, and influencers in six continents, with winners being featured in their online directory and publications.
The Maynards were informed their bed and breakfast was being considered for an award and then received a phone call from England telling them they had won.
"We were really pleased because we are very small and only accommodate one person or one couple in a little apartment," she said.
"We were quite surprised really."
The Maynards have been operating their bed and breakfast in Geographe for five years and became accommodation providers after Ms Maynard's mother passed away.
"We bought this place so my mother could live in the granny flat, when she died we did not want to move because we love it here," she said.
"A person suggested we turn it into a bed and breakfast, so we sort of drifted into it and we joined a group with other bed and breakfast owners in Busselton.
"We all help each other with bookings and as far as I know, we are the only bed and breakfast in Busselton which takes dogs and allows them to come inside."
Ms Maynard said about 20 per cent of their guests brought dogs, and they had lots of guests from Singapore and China stay with them.
"I think it is the photos of the garden which attracts a lot of people, our Singaporean and Chinese guests are fascinated by the garden and photograph everything," she said.
"We do a fully cooked breakfast and a devonshire cream tea when guests arrive."
