Calling all equestrians, there is a new shop in town which might just pique your interest.
Business owner and equestrian Anna Venter had a lightbulb moment to open a one-stop-shop for pre-loved horse gear after a lifetime of buying and selling horse gear herself and officially opened Kelani Equestrian on February 28, 2019.
"I felt there was a real need to shop for pre-loved gear in a safe environment without feeling like you are going through someone else's personal horse gear," she said.
"We have years of experience and knowledge about horses and the gear they use."
"We offer a range of horse gear for horses and riders of most disciplines."
"I love working with equestrians because we are a different species of human and not a lot of non-horsey people always understand us."
Ann mostly runs the store by herself, with the help of her right-hand girl Kelly-Ann McDonald.
Her son Reinhard du Plessis and his friend Ali Smith also work the odd Saturday as casual employees.
"We are very honest and always try to help where we can," Anna said.

"We want to see all horses and riders out there as happy and safe as possible."
Anna would like other riders to know how important it is for a saddle to fit a horse correctly.
"The wrong fit can create a lot of long term damage to your horse," she said.
"The bridle needs to fit correctly to ensure maximum comfort for a horse."
"The list of goes on and on, but it is important for both horse and riders safety that all gear fit correctly."
Anna is a volunteer coach for HorsePower (riding for the disabled) in Capel and both Kelly-Ann and Anna offer their service and expertise to the local community on a daily basis.
"As a level one coach, I also offer private lessons and we start and train horses on request," she said.
With the shop mostly being pre-loved horse gear, Anna says the best part of her shop is walking into the beautiful smell of leather in the morning.
"It is just a bonus on top of being able to talk about horses and gear all day," she said.
