South West MLC Adele Farina has urged the community to help the Salvation Army to help those in need in our community by donating to the Red Shield Appeal on May 25 to 26.
Ms Farina said with a growing number of people in our community experiencing financial stress, the Salvation Army was experiencing greater demand than ever on their services.
"The Red Shield Appeal is the Salvation Army's biggest annual fundraising appeal," she said.
"The Salvos do a great job providing vital support services to those in need in our community but they need our help to continue to provide these support services.
"By donating to the Red Shield appeal, you will help the Salvos to continue to support those in need with food hampers, blankets and warm clothing for the coming winter months, assistance with paying bills, emergency housing, counselling and financial management.
"Hardship does not discriminate, more people from all walks of life are turning to the Salvos for help.
"The Salvos provide vital support services to people experiencing financial stress, health and mental health problems, family and domestic violence and overcoming addiction.
"I am pleased to donate to the Salvation Army's Red Shield Appeal and I urge everyone in the community able to donate, to give generously to so the Salvos can continue to make a difference in alleviating the hardship."
