The Western Australian Surf Masters Titles were contested in perfect surf south of Geralton over the weekend of June 22 and 23, at the long lefthanders of Flat Rocks.
Competitors relished the winter conditions with some of the State Titles coming back to Dunsborough.
Dunsborough's Barrie Mackinnon was in fine form, easily winning the Over 55's and Over 60's divisions.
The winning results cemented his two State Titles for 2019 and has earned him a position on the Western Australian team who will be heading to New South Wales in August for the Australian Titles.
Yallingup's Paul Patterson flew the flag in the Over 45's division and ripped into the lefts with style and power to burn.
He had a big win with a total of 25 points from the two final heats.
Fellow local Ian Ainsworth made the final and placed third respectively.
Ainsworth proceeded to dominate in the Over 50's with some big turns and long rides, taking out the win in that division.
Former Geraldton local, Jake Molloy (Yokine) highlighted blue ribbon Open Men's final, using his intimate knowledge of the line up to pick off the best waves on offer.
Molloy displayed a full repertoire of new school manoeuvres and powerful forehand turns to drop the highest score of the Open Men's final with an excellent 8.17 (from a possible total of 10).
He finished on a two-wave combined total of 14.47 (out of a possible total of 20).
"I love coming back here, it's such a fun wave for a comp.
"It's been a while since I've had a win and coming up against three goofy footers it was always going to be a close one."
- Jake Molloy
Despite falling short in the Open Men's final, Cyrus Cox (Gnarabup) secured the Under 21 Men's State Championship with some flashing and high speed surfing.
The only surfer who frequently dropped nine point plus rides, Cox posted a massive combined total of 16.17 (from a possible 20), blitzing all of his opposition.
