A 30-year-old South West police officer lied when she reported her vehicle had been stolen and when she tried to make an insurance claim.
Bunbury Detectives charged Const. Kirsty Louise Badger, from the South West District, following an investigation into an incident that occurred on July 7, 2019.
Badger, while off-duty, was the driver of a vehicle involved in a traffic crash on Bussell Highway, near Peel Terrace in Busselton.
She then reported the vehicle as being stolen, before attempting to make an insurance claim.
Badger was charged with creating false belief and attempt/intent to defraud or deceive and pleaded guilty to both offences in Busselton Magistrates Court on Tuesday September 17.
She is due to appear again in Busselton Magistrates Court on September 24. An application was made to have the case transferred to the Start Court, which specialises in dealing with offenders who have mental health issues.
Badger has been stood down from operational duties.
