New plans to revamp the Busselton Central Shopping Centre have been revealed in a development application with the City of Busselton.
The plans, which include redeveloping the precinct around the centre and Mitchell Park, include linking the current shopping centre with Queen Street via a walk-way and children's playground.
While many of the potential new tenants remain commercially confidential at this stage, the development application does include a 500-seat, five screen cinema.
An indoor/outdoor food precinct including a food and beverage precinct to complement Mitchell Park is also included, along with a multilevel car park located on the area bound by Kent, West and Duchess Streets.
Australian Unity Diversified Property Fund manager Nikki Panagopoulos said if the application is approved the development would include a variety of local, boutique and artisan producers.
"Australian Unity is progressing stages two and three of its development at the Busselton Shopping Centre," she said.
"Stage two is progressing extremely well and we have handed the newly constructed western end premises to Best and Less, who will commence their fit-out shortly for an opening date of late October 2019.
"Once Best and Less relocate we will commence the new link mall through the existing Best and Less premises, with the program seeing the completion of these works by quarter one, 2020.
"Stage three is anticipated to commence in quarter two, 2020 and it's expected to be a 12 to 18 month project."
Ms Panagopoulos said the amended application with the city was the culmination of months of consultation and collaboration to ensure the centre integrated and linked to Mitchell Park.
She said the new plans were to ensure the redevelopment was aesthetically pleasing and could be used effectively by the community and customers of the shopping centre.
"We are also talking to retailers and other producers that want to be a part of a precinct that will allow locals and tourists to enjoy WA's local produce in a beautifully revitalised public space," she said.
