The new South-West Development Commission chief executive officer Melissa Teede met with City of Busselton executives last week.
The SWDC is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development tasked with leading the state government's job creating agenda and driving regional diversification.
Ms Teede brings regional development experience to the role, having previously held the CEO role at the Peel Development Commission from 2012 to 2015.
She has more than 20 years of experience in the public sector, including in senior leadership roles in education and training.
During her meeting with the city, Ms Teede was briefed on opportunities and challenges facing the airport redevelopment.
