More than 200 of regional Western Australia's best squash players recently competed at the WA Country Week Teams' Tournament at Squashworld Mirrabooka.
The Busselton Squash Club fielded 20 players across five teams competing in their respective divisions.
Busselton Men's A-grade and Ladies D-grade were to be on the back foot most of the weekend, yet would still go on to show a lot of heart and effort only just missing out on finals contention by a few matches.
Three of Busselton's teams would make it into the finals on day 3 of the tournament.
Busselton C-grade stalwarts Ryan Callegari, Tom Payne, Jayden Genders and Warren Oliver would finish runner-up against a younger, fitter, hungrier Geraldton side with top prize eluding them for yet another year.
The Ladies C-grade team of Chris Harris, Nga Bassett, Polly Payne and Eva French ran over the top of a red hot favourite Narrogin women's side to steal the top prize of their division.
The upsets didn't stop there as Brian Roby and Matthew Kacimaiwai would claim top honours of Men's F-grade, also from the position of underdog.
Against all odds Busselton Squash continues to power along with the annual Busselton Open Tournament this coming weekend.
Sixty-four players from all over WA will compete for money and prizes at the Sebel Resort in a squash weekend getaway.
