The 17th South West Charity Toy Ride takes off from Augusta on Sunday December 8 to raise money and donations for the Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal.

Each year the ride raises thousands of dollars for people in the South West who are experiencing hardship at Christmas time.

The ride starts at the Lions Shed Shop on Hillview Road from 7.30am with a big $7.50 Leeuwin Lions Breakfast before the riders take off to Margaret River at 9.30am.

The motorcyclists will make their way through Margaret River at 10.30am, Dunsborough at 11.50am then Busselton before finishing at The Deck Bar and Grill around 12.15pm with a Lions Sausage Sizzle.

Riders are welcome to join the ride, and a support vehicle will be towing a trailer to collect donations from the public along the way.

Event organiser Colin Spark said they would love for families to come along and join in the festivities and checkout the bikes.

"Hopefully we will have around 300 riders like we normally do," he said.

South West Salvation Army captain Mark Schatz said the ride was critical to their organisation because it raised money, toys and resources to help local people.

"We know times are tough, the dollar is not going as far as it used to and people are struggling," he said.

"However, we can make a real difference in people's lives and brighten their Christmas just by this one event which raises money to help as many people as possible.

"If you have a bike come along for the ride, if not come down and bring a donation so we can give hope to those people who need it most."
