Grey skies could not hold back the surfers who were keen to get their toes wet for the Disabled Surfers Association South West's first event of the summer held at Bunker Bay on Saturday.
Sheltered from the howling north west winds Bunker Bay provided nice safe little waves, ideal for the day's surfing.
Forty stoked participants and 33 carers were supported by 71 volunteers.
The DSA's catch cry is "smiles on dials" and that certainly rang true on Saturday.
DSA South West president Ant Purcell thanked the volunteers, many from the younger generations who donated their Saturday mornings to help a good cause, and for the love of helping others and a chance to get wet.
Volunteer of the day was awarded to Vass's Anna Foley, who excelled in her first time as a team leader and tandem surfer for the many participants.
The day culminated with a special service for the DSA's favourite surfer James Murray who sadly passed away recently.
James friends and many DSA people paddled out as James' ashes were scattered at the place he loved so much.
The next event is at Bunker Bay on January 18, 2020.
