A Busselton man had his bail refused after allegedly threatening a man with a machete and robbing him of his wallet, phone and car.
On October 18 Robert Taylor was charged for aggravated armed robbery, aggravated burglary and commit and stealing a car after he allegedly threatened a man in his home with a machete.
Police said Mr Taylor and an accomplice forced entry to a home in Geographe in the early hours that morning, where they allegedly threatened the victim with a machete and knife over missing drugs and money before taking his phone, wallet and car.
The magistrate received photographic evidence from police which depicted Mr Hunt taking a selfie with his accomplice on the night of the burglary holding the weapons as well as CCTV stills and witness accounts of the two men with the weapons.
Mr Taylor pleaded not guilty to the charges and strenuously denied the accusations through his lawyer in court where it is alleged he has an alibi for the time of the incident.
Mr Taylor's lawyer suggested conditions for the bail including residing in Northcliff with his family, mandatory police reporting and not coming within five kilometres within the City of Busselton.
The magistrate was told Mr Taylor's daughter is getting married in February and he was hoping to have to bail so he could walk her down the aisle.
The magistrate also heard that Mr Taylor wanted his bail approved because of his not guilty plea.
Police, however, opposed the bail application saying the charges were very serious offences and a history of breaching police orders and violence restraining orders made them believe he would re-offend or breach the suggested bail conditions.
Due to his history of breaching bail and police orders, coupled with the serious nature of the charges, the magistrate denied bail.
Mr Taylor will remain in Bunbury Prison until he returns to court for a committal mention on February 13, 2020.
