The Men's Championship Pairs was finalised at the Dunsborough Bowling club last weekend.
Tom Reynolds and Geoff Benn faced off against Butch Sharpe and Kevin Gibb under the hot sun whilst on the next rink the plate was being played between Merv Mott and partner Norm Gage versus Ben Tas and Clive Williams.
Team Sharpe had a resounding win in the semi-final when they demolished Mike Brown and Geoff Oddy. Team Reynolds managed to overcome Wayne Coyle and Steven Nicholson in the final three ends of their semi to earn their place in the final. However, it was team Reynolds which marched into this championship game with determination and true grit.
Geoff Benn played an outstanding lead position for the entire game and made things easier for skip Reynolds who proved time and again he was no slouch either.
Team Sharpe could not find their previous form and struggled from the start. Team Reynold's rhythm and momentum was hard to beat and their skill level was of the highest standard winning all but three ends.
Next door where the plate was being decided Tass and partner found themselves down 2-12 with only five ends to go however great determination brought them back with a fighting chance and won the last five ends 8-0 but it was not enough and team Mott came out with the honours.
