The Disabled Surfers Association South West will hold its second last session for the 2019/20 summer at Bunker Bay on Sunday, February 16, 2020.
DSA South West is one of 18 non-for-profit organisations located throughout Australia and New Zealand which gives people with varying disabilities the opportunity to have a safe, happy and dignified surfing experience.
For Dunsborough resident Jarvis Gibbons, DSA at Bunker Bay is all about having fun and catching waves.
"I have been going to DSA at Bunker Bay since I was little, but I am very tall now, so a long time, dad says about eight years," he said.
"Yes it's very good."
"I enjoy seeing lots of people, who help me surf and they talk to me about things I like, my new school and clap me when I get a wave.
"The sausages in a bun are good, but I don't want onion with my sausage. I like squirting Ant to get him wet too.
"My friends and family laugh when I wipe out, and I do to.
"The people that I know and new people that I don't know at DSA, always laugh at my jokes and give me a hug.
"I wish there was DSA every weekend.
"I think I will sing some Abba , while I surf at DSA, and everyone can sing too.
"I hope lots of people come to DSA on Sunday to have fun."
Around 50 participants took part at the last session in January, who were assisted by almost 150 volunteers who helped the surfers catch waves.
Sunday's session kicks off at 9am for participants with event organisers setting up from 7.30am.
Disabled Surfer's Association South West president Ant Purcell said the more volunteers who rocked up the merrier.
The event was moved to Sunday this weekend to allow people who have other commitments on Saturdays to catch all the fun.
All surfing gear is supplied on the day for participants and a free barbecue and awards is held following the event.
