The last black cockatoo sanctuary in the South West has closed its doors, releasing more than 40 black cockatoos last Monday into the adjoining state forest at Jalbarragup. Jamarri owner Dee Patterson has rehabilitated around 300 black cockatoos over the past 34 years, but no longer has funding to keep the sanctuary operating. The closest sanctuary is now in Perth.
