Busselton's Foreshore will be a sea of colour on March 7 as animal lovers take their furry friends to the Rainbow Dog Walk to raise much-needed funds for Busselton Hospice Care Inc.
The fundraiser, organised by Busselton Pride Alliance Inc, will kick off with a 2km or 5km group walk from Signal Park at 9.15am, with entertainment, stalls and prizes for the Best Dressed, Biggest and Smallest Rainbow Dogs and the Best Trick.
The alliance has already raised more than $300 for Busselton Hospice Care Inc, a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing bereavement support to those in Busselton Health Campus' Hospice Unit for more than two decades.
In that time, the organisation has trained more than 400 volunteers to offer complementary therapy and bereavement support services for both patients and carers all year round.
Busselton Hospice Care Inc chief executive officer Rosie Brown said the fundraiser was a great example of the creative and fun ways that the community has supported the organisation's work for the last 20 years.
"Busselton Hospice Care Inc does not qualify for any government grants or receive any government funding," she said.
"It relies 100 per cent on donations and fundraising to provide these services, free-of-charge to the community.
"The support at end of life provided by Busselton Hospice Care Inc and supported by the community is both essential and unique.
"In mid-2020, a new Community Outreach Service will offer training for people caring for a seriously ill person at home and a Home Visiting Volunteer Program."
