The community led Bushfire Ready program in Yallingup and Dunsborough, and the Yallingup Rural Volunteer Bushfire Brigade welcomed Department of Fire and Emergency Services commissioner Darren Klemm to the region.
Mr Klemm's visit provided him with firsthand knowledge of the district's Bushfire Ready operation, one of the most effective in WA.
The visit also gave Mr Klemm the opportunity to meet some of the community members who contribute their time to bushfire safety.
Mr Klemm was joined by Yallingup resident Ron Edwards, who is chair of the State Emergency Management Committee, the peak emergency management body in WA,
Dr Edwards and Bushfire Ready facilitator Peter Campbell thanked DFES for their support which his team of local volunteers received.
Mr Klemm acknowledged the great value volunteers added to DFES and to the safety of the community
Yallingup Rural Brigade senior fire control officer Mark Fisher took Mr Klemm on a tour of the Yallingup Rural fire station, and said he was pleased to be able to show him the workings of an effective volunteer brigade.
After the visit Mr Campbell noted that the relationships created during the meeting with Mr Klemm and Dr Edwards will help to improve bushfire related communications and service delivery across the district.
